Newborn
A newborn baby is a tiny living miracle & a sight to behold. Their tiny faces explore the possibilities with wonder and intrigue. The tininess of their nose, mouth, fingers & toes are a delight to see. Before too long their newness develops into a fast growing little person & it’s hard to remember how tiny they once were. So capturing those precious memories is an important part of their life story.
Clients all tell me that having a newborn is as much an exciting time as it is a daunting time. Maybe because I’ve never got that far in my own pregnancies, I feel passionately it must be recorded as it is a very special time for both parents.
“You are the closest I will ever come to magic.”

Documentary session
We don’t just document the new bundle of joy in the studio, although this is our most popular option. We also offer a ‘documentary style’ birthing story; no posing, just footage of the raw emotion and real moments as they happen.
Newborn session
A newborn session typically lasts up to 3-hours but is very much dependant on how your baby is on the day. The studio will be quite warm as baby will not have much in the way of clothing on (sometimes nothing at all). So ensure that you have layers on so that you can remain comfortable throughout.
We do a mixture of close-up images showing the cuteness and tininess of baby’s features. I use a variety of props that are specifically designed for newborn photography in the session. Finishing off with a variety of poses with mummy and daddy. If baby has any siblings, they can also be included in the session.
Elise is trained in newborn photography, newborn safety, and is certified in infant CPR to ensure that those who matter the most to you are the best-taken care of.
Using baby-led posing that places the focus on your new little one, our newborn experience welcomes babies up to 12 weeks of age.
Clubs
Would you like to document the first year of baby’s life? Baby’s first year is the time when they will change and develop more than any other time in their lives. We are here to capture those all-important milestones. From learning to sit on their own to celebrating their first birthday, we capture it all in our Milestone Club.
If the thought of a newborn session is a bit daunting, or not what you’re after, you don’t have to miss baby’s key milestones. After all, having a baby is a big event, and you can quickly become overwhelmed by it all. We understand, so, in 2021 we introduced two new clubs:
My First Year Club: offering 3 sessions in 12 months. We start when baby can lift their head, and finish with a family session when your baby is 18-months old.
Grow with me Club: offering the chance to capture each birthday of your child from their 1st to their 5th birthday.
Are you ready to book your newborn session?
F-A-Q
When should I book a newborn session?
Either when you come in for your maternity session, or at least 4-6 weeks before your due date. If baby doesn’t arrive on your due date your session can be moved to accommodate when baby arrives.
A newborn session can take place at anytime, but before baby is three months old they tend to be more supple. So, if you’re after the tight, tiny bundle images, it is suggested that you bring baby in sooner rather than later. But even at less than two weeks old there is no guarantee that baby will co-operate and allow such images to be taken.
What do I need to bring with me?
Any special heirlooms that have been handed down to baby, maybe a teddy or two, a special book or old family photograph from baby’s nursery.
On a more practical note; For baby bring enough feed for a whole day – baby will be surprisingly hungry during the session and it’s better to have too much than not enough! Nappies, wipes and blankets are also required.
For parents it’s good if you can come with layers on, as the studio is kept warm for baby, you may need to take layers off to feel comfortable.
